Guys, I've but together a NFL data base that includes the following:

Ref Crew
Opening Line
Closing Line
Line Chg
Open O/U
W/L with Line move game & o/h
each qtr score
victory margin
margin vs spread
M/L won/loss
pen against the spread
close against the spread
open/close win/loss & O/U
close against the spread w/l & o/h
rush yards
def rush yards given up
pass off/def
give aways/take aways
penalties & penaltie yards

If you know excel and the use of pivot tables I would be happy to send to to you. If you dont please dont waste your time. this is a 7 MB file (many free email accounts will not accept a file this large, so check first) which includes one sample pivot table. depending on how many tables you want to create it can become 100-200 mb.

If you do get the file, all i want is input as to what other fields or data you think should be included etc, as well what pivot tables you found to be the greatest help.

just email my at jrydel@go.com

p.s you can get the same data manually but it saves 10 hours plus per week for handicapping the games.

I appreciate the effort Pops. One stat that recently came to my attention is one Tuna Parcells divulged in a recent press conference that he has used during his Cowboy tenure: Profitable Plays from Scrimmage. Simply adding each rushing play to each pass completion, minus one for a sack, one for an interception. This penalizes teams with weak quarterbacking (incomplete passes are similar to a strike out in baseball: nothing good happens for the offense). I'm not sure what affect on handicapping this could be, but it could definitely be of use for numbers inside the numbers.
